The natural area of the Senance valley includes one of the major and very typical natural sites of the Langres plateau. This steep valley cuts deep into the Langres plateau; it is bordered by steep cliffs and ends in a series of narrow gorges. The edge of the plateau and the slopes have mountain-type forests, close to those of the Jura, varied according to the orientation: maple grove (on large scaly blocks), beech to dental, xerophilic beech, oak-tree to plate... etc. A network of springs, streams and marshes occupies the bottom of the valley; grasslands can be seen downstream. Finally, a particular vegetation develops in the hard limestone walls.
