This tour will make you discover the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Vingeanne valley with its springs and cliffs marked by erosion... The sources of Vingeanne: Vingeanne is a resurgence.
- To the north, the source of Combe Royer, the only Haut-Marne and Champagne "canyon" dug by water in the limestone soils, is the first tributary.
- In the South, the other source is mentioned on the IGN map.
In May, a carpet of bear's garlic will accompany you throughout your discovery. The path is, indeed, covered with the white stars of garlic as well as its stunning scent...
The legend: At the time of the Crusades, this wild valley was the place where a lord of Aprey and his wife Jeanne used to walk. He left for the crusade and for several years there was no news of him. When he returned, he found his wife dead of languor and engraved on a stone: "There came Jeanne".
J-G. Gigot, former departmental archivist, contests this origin in the CHM (n°39). According to him, the name of the river, known in Carolingian times, would come from Vindogena, white river.
