Taloison's mound is reproduced on the inventory of the natural sites of the department like "one of the major natural sites of the Plate of Langres and the department of Haute-Marne". During centuries, this high point of the Plate of Langres (428 meters) was used as place of pasture with the sheep and the goats of the commune. This pastoral activity in these ungrateful places allowed the maintenance of the ecosystem. Dependent on the particular morphology of the ground and the basement very permeable, a flora, composed of species adapted to the dryness and a high percentage of limestone, reappeared. Thus, curiously, one notes the spontaneous presence of species of cold climates and other arrivals of the South.
take a walk up Taloison Hill with the local Langres tourist information brochure called La demoiselle et le vieux Monsieur. By following the footpath of the same name signposted in yellow and blue, and completing the 10 stages in the brochure, you will be able to enjoy the natural delights of a walk full of memories and apposite comments from an old gentleman and an inquisitive butterfly!
