The In the Footsteps of Denis Diderot circuit invites you to discover the childhood and family of the famous philosopher in the town where he was born in 1713. Internationally renowned philosopher and writer, Diderot left for Paris to pursue his studies the year he turned 15, but he would always remain attached to his family and his country. Over the course of the journey, you can get to know the places that he frequented over the years, like the Fontaine de la Grenouille (the Fountain of the Frog), the cathedral or the former Jesuit College, as well as the 18th century town. On the square which is now named after him, in front of his birth house and childhood home, you can admire the statue made by Bartholdi, which pays homage to the father of the Encyclopaedia. You will then be lead towards the Maison des Lumières, which is the only French museum devoted to Diderot.
