The parapet walkway goes round the old town and is a pleasant place for a stroll, thanks to the magnificent panoramic views that stretch well beyond the walls. It takes you past 7 gates and 12 towers, reminders of developments in fortifications between the Hundred Years’ War and the 19th century. The covered passageways, also known as “porches”, provided easy access to inner courtyards. Nowadays, you can use them as short cuts to go from street to street, from the town walls to a square and from one historic building to another.
