Jeanne Mance

Jeanne Mance (1606-1673)

The daughter of a humble lawyer, this young nurse relinquished all to spread the word in the New World. She was, in fact, co-founder of Montréal in Canada, and established a hospice there. Her statue, created by Jean Cardot, was unveiled on the Place Jeanne Mance on 5 May 1968.
