FOUNTAIN WITH THE FAIRIES 52200 LANGRES GPS : 47.857907,5.327103
Back in the Gallo-Roman era, the source was dedicated to three mother-goddesses. Looking to get rid of any pagan survival, the Christian church announced that these benefactress divinities were actually malevolent fairies. The story tells that they put a spell on a shepherd that had fallen asleep near the source. The day after, the poor man couldn’t get married as planned, and his inconsolable bride entered the Langres convent.
