FOUNTAIN OF THE HOLE 52200 LANGRES GPS : 47.85281,5.326674
Dating from the XVII century, this remote fountain wasn’t so much used in the region. During the 1826 works (the date written on the archway), a vaulted conduit was built so as to collect the water and bring it to a round basin that doesn’t exist anymore. From there, it supplies the one-basin-washhouse originally roofed. Building the citadel in the middle of the XIX century and the Langres train station at the end of the century gave it a new lease of life. Placed midway between the two places, it attracted the men from the Garrison for a long time, as they could do the laundry in a more “bucolic” way than in the Citadel.
